A former Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hon. Jide Ashonibare, has described the emergence of Prof. Wale Sulaiman in the Kwara State governorship race as a credible option for sustaining ongoing development in the state.
In a statement, Ashonibare said Sulaiman’s entry into the race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) comes at a time when citizens are increasingly demanding competence, continuity and measurable progress in governance.
He noted that the current administration, led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has recorded significant strides in key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education and institutional reforms, adding that such gains require consolidation through experienced and forward-looking leadership.

According to him, Prof Sulaiman’s professional background as a globally recognised neurosurgeon and public health expert, as well as his previous role as Special Adviser on Health Matters, positions him to build on existing achievements rather than disrupt them.
Ashonibare highlighted Prof Sulaiman’s contributions during critical periods, particularly in the health sector and the state’s COVID-19 response, describing his leadership style as practical and solution-driven.
He also commended Prof Sulaiman’s emphasis on unity, inclusion and discipline within the political space, noting that such qualities are essential in maintaining stability and ensuring sustained progress.
The former TIC chairman further aligned Sulaiman’s vision with the broader “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Tinubu, stating that his candidacy represents an opportunity to deepen reforms and expand development initiatives across Kwara State.
As the 2027 election approaches, Ashonibare urged stakeholders and citizens to prioritise leadership choices that guarantee continuity, stability and long-term growth, expressing confidence that Prof Sulaiman embodies these qualities.
