Emir of Ilorin fixes July 10 for turbaning of New Chief Imam

The Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has approved Friday, July 10, 2026, for the official turbaning of the newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki, popularly known as Imam Fulani.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Personal Assistant to the Emir, Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala.

According to the statement, the historic ceremony will take place at the Emir’s Palace in Ilorin and is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.

The event is expected to attract a large gathering of Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders, and Muslim faithful from within and outside Kwara State.

Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki, who succeeds as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, will formally assume one of the most revered religious positions in the region during the ceremony presided over by the Emir of Ilorin.

The statement noted that the appointment marks another significant chapter in the religious and spiritual leadership of the Ilorin Emirate, given the vital role of the Chief Imam in guiding the Muslim community.

It also offered prayers for Almighty Allah to grant Sheikh Dasuki wisdom, sound health, strength, and divine guidance in the discharge of his responsibilities as the spiritual leader of the Ilorin Muslim Ummah.

The Emir’s Palace further prayed for the continued good health, longevity, and successful reign of the Emir of Ilorin as he continues to provide leadership for the emirate and its people.
