Kwara PDP guber candidate, Kale Kawu denies link to viral ritual video

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has distanced himself from a viral video circulating on social media, describing attempts to link his 2027 governorship ambition to alleged ritual activities as false, malicious and misleading.

The clarification followed the circulation of a video allegedly featuring Alhaji Saheed Ishola, popularly known as LogunOfe, in which he was accused of making comments and engaging in activities purportedly connected to ritual sacrifice in relation to the 2027 governorship election.

The video surfaced amid earlier reports alleging that some PDP supporters visited a shrine in Ogun State to pray against individuals perceived to be opposed to the political ambitions of former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Engr. Kawu.

Reacting in a statement issued on Saturday through his Media Office, the PDP governorship candidate categorically denied any relationship with the individual featured in the video or any involvement in the alleged activities.

According to the statement, Engr. Kawu has no connection whatsoever with the comments or actions attributed to Alhaji Saheed Ishola, stressing that any attempt to associate him with such conduct should be disregarded.

The media office further clarified that Alhaji Saheed Ishola does not represent, work for, or speak on behalf of Engr. Kawu or his campaign organisation in any capacity.

It also stated that the PDP flagbearer has never authorised, approved, or encouraged anyone to make such statements or engage in activities of that nature in support of his political ambition.

Reaffirming Kawu’s religious beliefs, the statement described him as a devoted Muslim whose faith is firmly rooted in the worship of Almighty Allah alone, emphasizing that he does not subscribe to ritual practices, fetish beliefs, or any form of diabolical activities.

According to the media office, Kawu believes that power, honour, and victory come only through the will of God and that his political aspiration is driven by a sincere desire to serve the people of Kwara State rather than by desperation for public office.

The statement added that his campaign remains focused on promoting purposeful leadership, restoring security, rebuilding public confidence, advancing economic prosperity and delivering people-oriented governance across the state.

The media office urged members of the public to disregard attempts to associate Engr. Kawu or the Peoples Democratic Party with the alleged ritual activities portrayed in the viral video, describing such efforts as politically motivated and inconsistent with the values and principles of the governorship candidate.

It further reaffirmed Kawu’s commitment to a peaceful, issue-based campaign anchored on integrity, respect for the rule of law, faith in God, and the democratic choice of the people of Kwara State.
