Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called on Nigerians to support the military by avoiding the disclosure of sensitive information, warning that such actions could jeopardise the lives of troops engaged in the fight against banditry.
The governor made the appeal while speaking with journalists after visiting injured soldiers receiving treatment following a recent ambush by bandits.
He cautioned that some criminal elements rely on leaked information about troop movements to plan attacks, describing the act as sabotage that undermines national security efforts.

Governor AbdulRazaq was received at the hospital by the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, alongside the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Abdullah Yussuf.
During the visit, he commiserated with the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the attack and announced financial support of ₦20 million for each of the deceased soldiers’ families, as well as ₦5 million for each of the injured personnel.
“We are here to visit the soldiers who were ambushed by bandits. Sadly, we lost three of them, while others are currently receiving treatment. We pray for the repose of the fallen heroes and stand with their families in this difficult time,” he said.
The governor noted that the gesture was intended as interim support pending further assistance from the Ministry of Defence.
He praised the military for their bravery and sacrifice, emphasizing that security personnel constantly put their lives at risk to protect citizens.
“This incident highlights the dangers our security men face daily. They remain on the frontline to keep us safe. We must all support them in the fight against banditry and terrorism,” he added.
AbdulRazaq urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that collective responsibility is key to overcoming insecurity in the country.
