Ifelodun LG chair bags National Best Performing Chairman Award

The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Hon. Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has been honoured with the prestigious Best Performing Local Government Chairman Award at the Rootswatch National Awards held in Abuja.

The award, presented on Wednesday at Merit House, Abuja, recognised Yusuf’s contributions to grassroots development, effective governance and service delivery.

He was among 36 local government chairmen selected from across the country for the national recognition.

Speaking during the event, the National Coordinator of the Rootswatch National Awards, Chief Bayode Ojo, said the selection process was thorough, transparent and driven by public participation.

According to him, nominations were sourced through radio and television programmes, opinion polls in national newspapers and other public engagement platforms.

He noted that the awardees emerged from a pool of 774 local government chairmen nationwide after meeting stringent assessment criteria.

“The winners being celebrated today have passed the litmus test. They are worthy ambassadors of grassroots governance and have distinguished themselves in service delivery, accountability and community development,” Ojo said.

In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Yusuf expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for providing visionary leadership and creating an enabling environment for local governments to excel.

He dedicated the award to the governor, describing the recognition as a reflection of the administration’s commitment to transparency, good governance and people-oriented development.

“I sincerely dedicate this award to His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, whose leadership, support and developmental vision continue to inspire us at the grassroots.

The successes we are recording in Ifelodun are largely a product of the foundation and direction he has provided for us,” Yusuf stated.

The council chairman also commended the management, staff and residents of Ifelodun Local Government for their support and cooperation, describing them as key partners in the achievements recorded by his administration.

The award was presented by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace.

The recognition adds to the growing list of honours received by the Ifelodun Local Government chairman for his contributions to grassroots development and public service.
