Late-night fire guts four-bedroom building in Ilorin

A four-bedroom building was extensively damaged by fire in the early hours of Sunday at Olohunsogo, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The incident occurred at No. 2 Laduba Street, where the Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call and arrived at the scene at about 1:57am, THE PRIME NEWS reports.

According to the statements signed by the PRO/Head Media unit, Kwara State Fire Service, PFO Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, MBA said, the building was already fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived, with the late notification contributing to the extent of the damage.

The firefighters immediately commenced operations and successfully brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to adjoining properties.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire might have been caused by a power surge, although further investigation may be required to establish the exact cause.

The Chief Fire Officer, CFS Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to take electrical safety seriously by ensuring that electrical installations and appliances are properly maintained.

He also advised members of the public to promptly alert the Kwara State Fire Service whenever they notice a fire outbreak, stressing that early intervention is critical to reducing damage and protecting lives and property.

The Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Kwara State.
