The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have intensified security and traffic management operations across Kwara State ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, THE PRIME NEWS reports.
The NSCDC disclosed that it has deployed 2,480 personnel across the state to ensure adequate security and protection of lives and critical infrastructure before, during and after the festive period.

Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Umar Mohammed, said the operatives have been strategically stationed at worship centres, markets, recreational centres, motor parks and other public places considered vulnerable during celebrations.
According to him, the Corps is collaborating with other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration across the state.
“We have deployed 2,480 personnel across Kwara State to ensure adequate security during the Sallah celebration.
Our duty is to protect lives and critical national assets,” the commandant stated.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies for immediate response.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 950 officers, marshals, special marshals and first responders for special patrol operations across highways and major roads in the state.
In a statement signed by the Public Education Officer of the command, Basambo Olayinka Busari, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kabiru B. Kazeem, disclosed that the deployment includes 16 patrol vehicles, four ambulances and a 70-tonne tow truck for rescue and traffic management operations.
The special Eid-el-Kabir patrol, scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31, 2026, will involve personnel positioned at strategic points within Ilorin metropolis and along major highways to ensure free flow of traffic and prevent road crashes.
Motorists were advised to strictly comply with traffic regulations and avoid offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, use of phones while driving, tyre violations, seatbelt violations, lane indiscipline and mix-loading of passengers with goods.
According to the command, the operation is aimed at reducing accidents, fatalities and injuries while ensuring prompt rescue response and clearing obstructions from highways during the celebration period.
The FRSC also disclosed that public enlightenment campaigns and sensitisation rallies are ongoing at markets, motor parks, churches and mosques to educate road users on safety measures ahead of the festivities.
While wishing residents a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Sector Commander urged motorists to drive responsibly, reminding them that “only the living celebrates.”
