Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has presented a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep to the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammed Bashir Dasuki, during a courtesy visit following his arrival in Kwara State, THE PRIME NEWS reports.

The visit, according to a statement issued by Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Press Officer on Local Matters at the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Media Office, also featured the presentation of assorted gift items and a cash donation running into millions of naira to support the Chief Imam and his religious activities.

Speaking during the visit, Saraki recalled that he had earlier promised to provide the cleric with a new vehicle after noticing there was none available.

“I looked outside expecting to see a vehicle, but there was none. We were patient and waited. However, I want to assure you that before 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, you will receive a Toyota Land Cruiser,” Saraki said.

The former Senate President noted that the gesture was part of his continued support for the traditional and religious institutions of the Ilorin Emirate.

Receiving the gifts, Sheikh Muhammed Bashir Dasuki expressed appreciation to Saraki, describing the donation as a reflection of his enduring respect for the Ilorin Emirate and its religious institutions.

The Chief Imam prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, protection, and blessings upon the former Senate President. He also offered prayers for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, asking God to grant him wisdom and success ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Saraki’s visit comes amid increasing political activities in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections and further highlights his longstanding relationship with religious and community leaders in the state.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has also donated four vehicles to the Chief Imam of Ilorin and the Council of Ulama of the Ilorin Emirate as part of his administration’s support for religious institutions.

The vehicles were presented at the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin in the presence of Islamic scholars, members of the Emirate Council, and other dignitaries.

The donation includes a brand-new Toyota Prado Jeep for the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Bashir Dasuki, a bus for the Council of Ulama of the Ilorin Emirate, and two utility jeeps for Imam Gambari and Imam Imale, respectively.

The gesture underscores Governor AbdulRazaq’s continued commitment to supporting religious leaders and strengthening traditional and religious institutions across Kwara State.

The vehicles are expected to enhance the mobility of the beneficiaries and facilitate their religious, administrative, and community engagements within and beyond the Ilorin Emirate.

The Kwara State Government has consistently maintained strong collaboration with traditional and religious institutions as part of efforts to promote peace, unity, and socio-economic development across the state.
