Controversy set in as two speakers emerged in Nasarawa Assembly

Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi of the All Progressives Congress(APC) representing Umaisha-Ugya State constituency and Daniel Ogazi of the APC representing Kokona East constituency were ‘elected’ Speakers by two sets of lawmakers.

Gov. Sule anointed candidate Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi with 11 elected Members of house of Assembly arrived the complex with Intention to conduct the inauguration but met the 13 members -elected at the gate.

The 13 members elected refused to leave the premises of the Assembly while the other version backed by the Governor moved to the government house.

Hon. Abdullahi has been the Speaker of the house since 2015 till when the 6th assembly came to and end.

When the second version had about the information, the 13 members elected at the assembly premises were looking for a way to
get access to the main chamber.

They conducted their inauguration where Ogazi was unanimously elected as the Speaker with Hon Mohammed Oyanki of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) representing Doma North as the Deputy Speaker.

This newspaper gathered that some powerful forces within the All Progressive Party (APC) are not in support of Governor installing a Speaker of his choice.

APC produced 11 members, PDP 8, Social Democratic Party(SDP) 3 and New Nigerian People Party(NNNP) 2 in the Assembly.
