2027: Defence Minister Musa joins Tinubu’s campaign team, appointed secretary

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, rtd, has pledged his commitment to the 2027 campaign of the All Progressives Congress, APC, following his appointment as Secretary I of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.

Musa, in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in him.

The minister described the appointment as a call to higher service, assuring the party leadership, stakeholders and supporters of his dedication to executing the responsibilities of his office with diligence and focus.

He, however, stressed that his constitutional responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting the lives and property of citizens remained his primary mandate.

“National security remains our highest imperative.

“The ongoing operations, strategic reforms, and inter-agency collaborations across the defence sector will continue unabated with increased vigour.

“Our resolve to uphold the mandate of the Ministry of Defence, protect our people, and drive Mr. President’s vision for a safe and prosperous Nigeria remains firm and unshakeable,” the minister stated.

The minister also called on party members and Nigerians to remain united behind the administration, expressing confidence that the party would succeed at the polls while continuing to deliver governance and security across the country.
